What are you looking for in a law firm? If you are an individual or small business, most likely it is assistance from a patent attorney who is knowledgeable, who responds to you, and who treats your patent needs as important. If you are a law firm, you are most likely seeking straightforward, efficient, and skilled patent counsel. These are our goals.
We provide large-firm expertise, with small-firm service and attention and rely on fixed fees wherever possible. To learn more about our patent, trademark, and copyright practice, select any of the topics listed above or contact us.
For example, while we serve clients across the United States and in foreign countries, our Washington, D.C. office location gives us access to the patent examiners at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) for filing needs, hearings, and personal interviews with patent examiners. Our location and experience make such interviews extremely economical, and serve to speed prosecution and narrow issues quickly, thereby saving the client prosecution costs over the long-run. This is an advantage to being a patent attorney in Washington, DC.
Experienced Guidance From A Business Perspective
Patent laws are complex. Significant skill, technical acumen, and experience are required to navigate the intricacies of patent law. You need an experienced guide to give you direction and focus. We can provide that direction and focus.
If you are a business, we will help you identify and prioritize your potential patent assets; execute a pragmatic, strategic plan to secure broad protections for those assets; and leverage those assets to meet your business objectives.
If you are a law firm, we will help you represent your clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in a pragmatic, cost-effective manner applying all of our experience. In fact, we are "of counsel" to several other law firms whose clients require a DC patent attorney.

Recent Patent News
The USPTO and the European Patent Office (EPO) have agreed to launch a patent prosecution highway (PPH) pilot program similar to the PPH pilot programs between the USPTO and the patent offices of Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, Korea, and Australia. An exception is that PCT international applications (including national stage applications filed under 35 U.S.C. 371) are excluded. This PPH pilot program will commence on September 29, 2008, and continue for a period of one year ending on September 29, 2009.
